The value of a good approach to solving a problem or challenge should not be overlooked. Problems are just that, problems, if you don’t slow down to understand their genesis, the impact it’s having currently, as well as its potential to grow.
“A well defined problem is a problem half solved.”
Adage attributed to Charles Kettering, the head of research at General Motors from 1920 to 1947
Clarity regarding all above mentioned aspects of a problem are key to allow yourself as well as your teams to take a guided and succinct approach. Clarity is the first step in creating a strategy towards resolution.
Clarity also creates buy in. When you are clear as a leader people feel it and recognize your confidence. The best “actors” can only fool those expected to follow them for so long. Pressure is a privilege so its imperative you are crystal clear before expecting others to join your mission.
You now have buy in, so now the team can all row in the same direction. Buy in now creates the incubator for collaboration you need. Collaboration is the true launching pad for the synergistic tackling of these problems.
2 heads are better than one. We all say the prior statement and say we see and understand the value in synergy, but how often does our own lack of patience, and possibly inflated sense of self, not allow others to add the value we need?

1 Question:
Are you in the middle of working through an issue or challenge at work that might benefit from another look? Once you’ve taken this second look, do you think you would benefit from including those on your team, and working through it together?
