1 Thought:
Looking back, or at current situations, have you ever run across a problem or issue that with the right amount of time or training you couldn’t have handled?
The subject of this post is to address just that topic, and hopefully provide you a few actionable steps to manage future challenges…lord knows there will always be challenges.
So how do we prepare ourselves for any work challenges and leadership challenges that present themselves?
Well first off you need to take a hard look at what challenges have presented themselves in your profession in the past.
History tends to repeat itself, so it’s our fault if we allow ourselves to not be prepared. So how do we prepare for the repeated problems; we take the time to learn the skill sets needed to handle it. Better still, we learn the skill sets that prevent it from coming up again in the first place.
Slow it down to speed up. Once you have recognized a recurring problem in your business it’s your duty to identify the solution, and define specifically what you need to learn to address when it surfaces again, or as mentioned identify a way to prevent it entirely.
Problems only remain problems if we allow them to be. We are capable of solving any problem.
Human Agency: the capacity of individuals to act independently , make choices, and excerpt influence on their environment and the world around them.
Haman Agency was a term that was recently introduced to me and it was accurately described as something very hard to describe but once you know what it is you can’t un-see it.
The best description I heard was during an interview with George Mack where he delineated out the difference between people who have human agency versus those that don’t as people who are happening to life versus those that have life happening to them.
Dealing with problems as they arrive is low human agency, learning from our challenges, and learning how to not allow them to resurface is high human agency.
My intention is to have a post in the near future digging deeper into human agency, as I find it absolutely fascinating, but felt it had its place in the prevention of recurring challenges.
AI, the most impressive computer built, or whatever is built in the future will never rival the human minds ability to evolve and learn. It’s our job to put it to work.
Be Intentional: Have Purpose
Have Forethought: Plan and Anticipate
Be Self Reactive: Control Your Emotions
Be Self Reflective: Evaluate

1 Question:
What can you do intentionally to plan and anticipate your next challenge? Can you take on the challenge with clear and appropriate emotions and learn the needed skills to handle anything. (yes you can btw)
