One Step In Front of You.

1 Thought:

Breaking down large goals into small steps is a process I’m certain we all do, and do well.

But what gives us the confidence to go after larger goals with extreme confidence.

Robert Frost is quoted saying “the best way out is through”. I absolutely love that statement as it really hi-lites the no short cuts, no work around, no way to circumvent the approach needed to expand; you just have to take the challenge head on and “go through it”.

So if we are going to tackle things head on and grow how do we maintain our confidence and belief throughout the tougher times.

As a runner among other things, and currently working on tackling what is a large feat to me, I have chosen to keep my head down and watch the white line on the left side of the road rather than look up at what’s well ahead of me.

Certainly, we need to do as Covey suggests and begin with the end in mind, but we need to focus on the present and focus on each and every step. We don’t need to always tax our minds with how daunting the big goals are. We only need to force ourselves to make the next step; how hard is just 1 step?

If you take the 1 More Step approach, each movement you make is with confidence. Maintaining confidence is a requirement to complete any big task or project.

The goal itself is the future; the step you are about to take is the present. Be focused on the present and the goals will be achieved.

” You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”

– Martin Luther King

1 Question:

Are you working towards something big? Are you expanding, tackling, and breaking through a big project? Is it wearing on you and is your confidence occasionally waning?

If so put your head down and focus on just the next step, then repeat, and repeat again.
