1 Thought:
Thomas Edison was quoted saying that he hadn’t failed when trying to create the light bulb but rather that he had found over 1,000 ways that don’t work.
Had he listened to others that doubted, or given up due to failing not once or twice, but over a thousand times we might not all have benefited from the discovery.
Had Johannes Gutenberg not developed the printing press in the 15th century to allow for mass production of books how far back would our education be?
The internet, that we are all enjoying right now, was only a late 20th century development; tough to fathom where things would be without it sometimes. Business and countless other uses of communication simply wouldn’t exist.
Whether one of the listed above, or countless thousands of other firsts that could be listed, it took a person or a team of very naive people to make it happen.
Naive how?
All of the above started with someone, with a pen and a notepad, with just an idea. An idea followed by a naive belief that “this” thought can become realized. This thought could become reality.
There is the old adage that ignorance is bliss. Ignorance doesn’t necessarily mean dumb or inadequate. Ignorance is simply being naive enough to believe in your thoughts, your dreams, your work ethic, your drive, and your extremely clear vision rather than the naysayers that say its’ not going to happen, it doesn’t make sense, and so on and so on. “F” that noise, because that’s all it is.
So how does this relate to you, and to me?
Are you trying to get your sales team to hit numbers that have never been hit before?
Are you trying to earn an amount you never have before?
Are you trying to lose a certain amount of weight?
Are you wanting to run a marathon and can barely run across the street?
Nothing is stopping you from making anything happen other than all the reasons you’ve been told by others, or you have told yourself and now believe. Listening to “I /you can’t because” is what is making your goals and plans impossible, not the act itself.
Fail 1000 times and try again with the same enthusiasm.
1 Quote:
“Think big and don’t listen to people who tell you it can’t be done. Life’s too short to think small.”
– Tim Ferriss
Author of most notably 4-Hour Work Week, pod-caster, investor, and lifestyle guru
1 Question:
Do you believe in the plan you’re following to achieve your goal? If the answer is no you will fall short so maybe do a re-write.
If you do believe in your plan then stop listening to anyone that says you can’t and keep taking action.
